I probably should have stated the average American would stop pretending to like the sport. It only becomes extremely popular when people have a reason to wave flags and chant USA, USA, USA. Once the US is eliminated, nobody cares anymore...
 
There is nothing particularly wrong with that. It is just as fan of the sport, I wish it would gain more popularity here.

Sure there are some not so good things about it, but overall it is a really fun sport. Especially in places like Europe. The atmosphere in a major European stadium is absolutely amazing. So fun to watch, and the fan interaction is amazing.

My wife and I used to go to Bayern Munich and German National Team games all the time. She loved it, and always looked forward to going. I took her to her first NFL game a few years ago, she was so excited, and then she died of boredom. Even the fan interaction was boring she said. (It was not boring to me...)
 
They do curling at my sports hall.
Never seen so many grown men carry brushes before in the car park.
The world cup was held in USA to bolster football in the colonies. Worked a treat then. Not the biggest fan of football so not much I can say but I do hope England go down with a little spark and spirit and not the usual whimper.

I voted for Germany, as I am a fan of the German team, and always have been. Having said that, I do not think they actually will. I think the team is too young at the moment. They will be serious contenders however, as they usually are, and I think they will at least make the Semis.
