Just trying to imagine 10 years later, when someone talks / reads about "THIS" World Cup ...
... Possibly will be surprised to realize that a nation were happy that their so-called "National" team was eliminated on group stage.

I will be more than happy when England go out, winning it would be a complete sporting disaster. I dont want to hear one more word about arm bands, shoe laces, rainbows and all the other gestures that are so loved by our media and detested by those who want to watch a football competition.

I understand what you mean, but really am not talking about "politics" and what supporters / fans expect players to do ... But talking about Economy and Statics ...
Football was not, is not, and will not be our sport, we simply are not good at it!
Just compare total number of Medals won by Weight lifters / Martial Arts Athletes and Wrestlers, from 1900 till right now, by Football And footballists ...
Every single tournament like this, costs way over one hundred trillion Rials, without any medals, at all, it is completely meaningless.
Every single time, we are eliminated at group stage...
What if they just close that useless office, and spend that money, where it has some fruits at least?

I really don't know. There is no official nor unofficial estimates. But comparing with other athletes, they were and are living luxury.
