Nazi Germany's Condor Legion was sent to Spain to help the Facist Uprising against the democratically elected Repuplican Government. The Coup failed and resulted in a civil war where Italy and Germany were allies. The Nacionalist fascists took over and slaughtered thousands of innocent Spaniards, post War. Hitler supplied arms to fascist Spain in return for "Division Azul" volunteers sent to the Russian front.so germany suplied planes so they could defend themselfs to the country they'd bombed 6 years earlier, isn't that rubbing it in?
If the communists had the advantage they would have probably done the exact same they just didn't have the capabilities tooNazi Germany's Condor Legion was sent to Spain to help the Facist Uprising against the democratically elected Repuplican Government. Not as much as some would think, Germany sent ground troops and the Condor Legion, but in limited numbers. They certainly weighed in once the turmoil started.

Italy had over twice as many involved than Germany and Portugal combined.
France, Mexico and the Soviet Union had about as many in support of the Marxist Republicans.
Hitler limited his support because he didn't want it escelating into a major war.
P-63 would have killed the P-39. But it still lacked a turbosupercharger so it was strickly a low-altitude machine. It was supposed to be a real beast in close air support missions though.
Close. So very close. It's the B-17B.The B-17C was the best looking of the bunch.
Not to mention, that when the P-63 was introduced in 1943, the USAAF already had the P-47, P-38, P-51 and P-40 in service. Not quite true.
There were seven different production blocks covering the 1,725 P-63As. All were powered by the Allison V-1710-95 engine with a two-stage supercharger mounted behind the engine. It didn't take a back seat to any fighter. It wasn't exactly the fastest plane around, but it was a good one. Top sped was near 420 mph, but it has very good roll and pitch rates and would definitely throw some serious armament at anything it shot at.
The main weakness was range. You could get 2,200 miles in ferry mode, but the combat range was 450 miles.
Service ceiling was 43,000 feet, right there in P-51 country.
We basically didn't buy it because 1) it looked like a P-39, and 2) the range wasn't good enough for escort, and 3) although it could give a P-51 fitsina fight, it wasn't exactly demonstrably better than a P-51, and we already had P-51s in production with trained mechanics in the field. No sense in sending another airplane that was about as good with shorter range and no clear improvement.
Should have read "wasn't", but my piece of sh*t phone had other ideas.wasn't (?)
