Just a reminder that the most destructive bombing mission in history took place last night.

279 B-29's burned out 16 square miles of Tokyo, and killed an estimated 100,000 (sources differ from 88,000 to 124,000). 1,000,000 people lost their homes.

Keep in mind that these totals might be low. The destruction was so great that even the Japanese didnt know how many people were in the fire area's

My mom's house was there. Thanks for posting the pic. I remembered the day too. She said she also saw Doolittle Raiders' B-25s passing low overhead.
