Hopefully, there'll be a lot of photos !

I'm intending to post a small selection in a separate thread, and I hope to get some "then & now" pics for that thread too, possibly posting some when still in Normandy, depending on available equipment/net connection.

However, when I eventually return home (I'll be back in Norfolk for a couple of days immediately after arriving back in the UK on 5th September), I'm aiming to commence a complete "travelogue" in my "Travels of Tel's Tin Tent" thread.
This will cover the entire trip, from departure from Newhaven, UK, arrival at Dieppe, France, and journeys through Normandy, to arrival back at the "Tin Tent" and a "campaign de-brief" barby and beer.
All battle sites and places of interest (buildings, strong-points, museums etc etc) will be photographed and posted, along with location maps and brief historic details of what happened where etc.
Although the primary aim is to cover key areas in the British and Canadian sector, we hope, if time allows, to visit at least some of the places and museum(s) further west in the American sector. We'll be based actually in Benouville, near Pegasus bridge, north east of Caen, so a fair distance from the American sector, though easily reached if we do have time.

Looking forward to our trip Dogsbody, i will keep everyone up-to-date with a few teaser shots from my phone as we go along to wet the appetite for your more substantial travelogue.
 
Slightly off topic but can anyone recommend a good book on the Battle of Kursk. There are of course a number of publications but if anyone has one they can suggest it would be appreciated.

David Glantz has published several books on the Battle of Kursk - all of them can all be recommended for reading.
Valery Zamulin is the best known contemporary researcher of the Battle of Kursk. He was deputy director of the Museum of the Battle of Kursk ("Prokhorovka Field"), but was forced to resign from this position - if I understand correctly, his work did not suit modern Russian propaganda.
