Going to see about ordering the Volume 1 of the Schiffer P-51 books (complete that collection, I have Volume 2 and their book on the P-82 Twin Mustang), Wing Leader's book by Colin Ford on the Allison Mustangs in RAF service, and a hardback version of Building the P-51 Mustang.

I consider the D&S series to be the best put out for technical information. Clean sharp photography and technical information on each and every aspect of an aircraft. The model building section goes through available kit by scale and provides sometimes brutal pros and cons of each. Best part is if you have a kindle account, it's done in moments. Several of the books I have in book form and kindle and or Apple Books format. If you have Apple Books it's considered better than the kindle format.

Unfortunately I found the revised D&S Mustang books Part 1 & Part 2 underwhelming, containing errors and a considerable bias in the content and information contained.
If you are looking for other than a passing reference and minimal photos of Allison engine Mustangs and the P-51B/C Mustang - Mustang III in RAF Service, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
If you are looking for US and USAAF centric content, you might be happier with what they contain.
As an example, in the Allison engine Mustangs Part 1, in its 245 photos, only FIVE show Allison Engine Mustangs in RAF service! And one of those is a greatly cropped down photo supposedly to depict some attribute of an RAF Mustang – including a caption that shows the author does not know what it actually shows! There are SIX photos showing Mustang I or IA aircraft in RAF c&m in the USA pre-delivery, or aircraft retained by NAA for trials use eg AG435 and AL958 and the Palmer photo of the NAA ramp with NA-91 P-51s in both RAF and USAAF c&m receiving final preparation on the flight line. When you consider that nearly HALF of all Allison engine Mustangs produced were used by the RAF, you can see that this volume in particular is missing out a large part of the story and information. A lot of the information the captions ot the photos and the narrative does say about the RAF Mustangs is just plain wrong, and their understanding of the differences between the early Allison engine models from NA-73 thru to NA-99 is often vague and contradictory. They repeat a lot of old myths and mistakes and make a couple of considerable 'clangers' about the involvement of certain junior USAAF personnel in the RAF's early Mustang acquisitions - I am sure that would come as a surprise to the members of the BPC and the RAF who were actually involved. Of the three colour profile illustrations depicting Mustang Is in RAF c&m, only one of them is anywhere approaching a degree of accuracy and that is of AG347 in its original delivery scheme. The other two are just plain inaccurate with lots of errors.
The reliance as well of restored aircraft in Museums for a lot of the 'detail' photos used, some with known variations from original build specification during their restoration, could lead those using the photos for reference in model builds or similar down the wrong path.
The Melin engine P-51B/C /Mustang III volume Part 2, similarly is very light on RAF & Commonwealth Air Force use content and again contains errors when covering them.

That's why I have, one, Colin's book on Allison P-51s in RAF service in the mail, two, waiting for Volume 2 (Merlin P-51s in RAF service) to come to fruition, and, of course, Bill's/drgondog's book on the P-51D/XP-51 lightweights and P-51H. He also wrote up an entry on the XP-82/F-82, but from what he told me depending on what publisher he goes with, probably won't make the cut and will have to be it's own thing.
