That is a very very well done Boomerang! The panic fighter. For those who don't know, a Japanese invasion of Australia was a real threat and Australia didn't have any competitive fighters available at the time. The whole plane was designed and built within a few months. By the time it entered service we had received better P40's from the US. However it still saw service as a fighter, it failed in this role, but became quite a lethal close support plane. Quite a success for an indigenous design!

I think given the time and urgency of the situation, CAC did a pretty good job. Very few airplanes have that kind of development cycle.
