Thank you every one for enjoying the zero fighter images.

The drop tank connector on my image was the later type with no wind cover unlike the early type.
Thanks Ivan.

Thank you Wayne for your so friendly words again!

Relating to this thread, thanks again Ariete:), I have learned a lot about Saburo Sakai but exact ID of his A6M5 above Iwo-jima in June, 1944 is still unknown. It has been turned out that the F-6-F of the illustration I introduced last time is wrong as she did not exist there in 1944.

As a last method, I'm going to check his 1976 movie -
Ozora no samurai (Samurai in the sky)
Ôzora no samurai (1976)

Italian tytle: Caccia zero terrore del Pacifico

Good day, mates:salute:

What is your opinion of the movie "Ozora no samurai (Samurai in the sky)"? I have a copy that I have seen a few times but my Japanese is not too good so I have never been able to evaluate the dialog for authenticity. I have not shown the movie to many of my friends because the special effects are "old style" and most of them would not have the patients to sit through the combat scenes. I like the effects (models on strings) they remind me of "Ishiro Honda's" work, and I have many good memories of watching his films as a child.

Thanks :notworthy:

p.s. I'm not sure that the movie, "Ozora no samurai (Samurai in the sky)", includes his involvement in Iwo-jima...I think it ends with his injury over Guadalcanal. I have included a photo from near the end of the movie...

I'm sorry for the "ot" nature of these pictures, but I couldn't resist posting a few more...

Shinpachi..Thanks a lot for all..You are a gentleman, my friend!!
In the italian forum: Modellismo Più, we are doing a Special Group about the Empire of Japan..

LINK

Best regards, Daniele.

Never seen that Sakai movie....hopefully it will show up on the World movies channel....would like to see it regardless!

V-128 should be in the lighter Olive Grey colour or Grey-Green, rather than the often seen Light Grey!

My Olive-Grey/Grey Green Zero, the control surfaces are a little too dark should be a slightly lighter grey, correct this on the next one!:D

Thanks proton45 for posting video clips from "Ozora no Samurai"!
I have been trying to find out the original video here in Osaka but it seems too old to sell at video shops any longer. Yours is a very valuable video nowadays.

As Wayne points out V-128 could be A6M2...

Thanks Ariete for your kind invitation to your forum.
I'm going to leave my footage there soon.
Many thanks.

OK. I've got video clips "Samurai in the Sky" too.
28 images are zipped to attach here.
Please enjoy.

Hi, Ariete.
I'm visiting your forum everyday but don't know how to post.
So, I'm learning Italian now. Please allow me sometime.
Thanks.
