According to a note I have found in Warpaint series no.16 this Sea Fury FB11. WE683 109-ST was of the 1831st RNVR Squadron at RNAS Stretton in September 1953.The plane retained the coloured wing and fuselage bands temporarily applied for its part in Exercise Mariner.Also there was a thin yellow strip on the spinner.The modeller missed it anyhow.
Ah Ha! Thanks Wojtek, I thought the colours looked familiar from somewhere, I saw the aircraft in a modelling magazine quite a few years ago; it caught my eye as Stretton is only a few miles from where I've lived for the last 18 years. Part of the airfield is still there, used by Shell research, but the M56 Motorway runs straight through it now! Strange seeing a model of a 'local' kite all the way across in Oz!
