I agree... I thought that they were very small... Maybe the were the attachment points for larger skis?

They were for operating from semi-prepared surfaces. There is a video of the aircraft taxiing on grass, it performs very well.
In the end Su-7BKL (meaning Ski/Wheels Bomber) used a complex undercarriage with small skis aside the main gear. Here

One of my first inquiries here when I joined was if there were any P-47s trialed in Canada. There was one as I just found out, a P-47C. The caption says winter of 44-45, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
