Lets knock it off with administration, border wall, and any other political talk disguised as non-political discussion and keep it to the Russian-Ukraine conflict.

Lets not force the mod/admin team to go back to a 100% no politics rule.

And to expand a little on this earlier comment:
* the AIM-9M is a permanent fixture on the A-10C, by the way. Regardless of the A-10's mission loadout, a hardpoint on each wing is populated by an AIM-9M for self defence.

This is one of the reasons why the A-10 can be a formidible adversary if attacked by enemy fighters. It has the ability to strike offensively/defensively at an enemy aircraft with it's AIM-9Ms and if pressed further, will bring it's cannon to bear.
The A-10 pilots are trained in BFM (Basic Fighters Maneuvers) like F-16, F-15, F-22 and other types fighter pilots do and they go through an annual refresher course, too.

I have been in the A-10C simulator at DM several times - it also has sophisticated gunight which constantly ranges, based on wingspan, for the 30mm gun. The 355th FA Reunion is (was) hosted every three years from 2005 by the Wing. Always during Heritage.

The Instructor has flexibility to basically make your simulation non-survivable -

Because the idea of Israeli F-15s on loan to Ukraine had been mooted.
Up until a week ago Israel was celebrated as a member of the FAAFO Club. Many posts have suggested Israel send military aid to Ukraine.
Suddenly that's taboo.

Not that it's taboo, it's that Israel has bigger and closer fish to fry. It's pragmatic and not ideological, seems to me.

We've read a lot about the A-10 and its usefulness.
Let's just send them as a replacement for SU-25 losses. This way we have a rational reason to satisfy all of us Warthog fanboys.

Are the engines on the A-10 a relatively common model? I think I may have read that somewhere. Would those engines be found on some of the aircraft operated by Ukrainian International Airlines? If so, having technicians already familiar with the type and a preexisting logistics chain might lend some validity to sending them to Ukraine.

PARIS (AP) — French prosecutors are investigating a suspected poisoning Thursday of a Russian journalist who fled after denouncing the war in Ukraine on live TV.

Marina Ovsyannikova called emergency services and was hospitalized after suddenly falling ill as she left her Paris apartment and said she suspected she was poisoned, the Paris prosecutor's office said.

Police were examining her apartment and an investigation was underway, the prosecutor's office said.

Media watchdog Reporters Without Borders, which helped Ovsyannikova escape Russia and settle in France, said its team has been ''at her side'' since she sought medical attention. The group, known also by its French acronym RSF, did not have further information about what happened.

Ovsyannikova, who worked at Russian state television Channel One, drew international attention in March 2022 after appearing behind the anchor of an evening news broadcast with a sign that said, "Stop the war, don't believe the propaganda, they are lying to you here."

BISHKEK, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin called on Friday for an end to the bloodshed in the Middle East and cautioned Israel that a ground offensive in Gaza would lead to an "absolutely unacceptable" number of civilian casualties.

[...]

"And most importantly, the civilian casualties will be absolutely unacceptable. Now the main thing is to stop the bloodshed," Putin said at a summit in Kyrgyzstan with other former republics of the Soviet Union.
