This is pretty damning criticism, especially since with our currently tiny armed forces, as of 2023 Canada has usurped Russia as the tenth largest economy in the world, List of countries by GDP (nominal) - Wikipedia.

But hopefully our defence spending has a good 2024-2025. Of course as Canada's GDP continues to grow, the 2% NATO target becomes a further reach.
