Up until now, Putin has been drawing from outlying areas and villages, keeping the urban centers and better educated men out of the war.
With this latest press gang round up, especially in Moscow, of all places, it's becoming clear that Russia is in trouble.

Agreed. If there is any comment from the Kremlin (which I doubt....), I'm guessing it'll be along the lines of 'The evil West is continually escalating. They are bent on turning our legitimate denazification of Ukraine into WWIII. We have no choice but to defend the Rodina'...........

Just a few days ago, Ukrainian forces killed 2,000 Russians in less than 24 hours.
That's roughly two batallions of corpses littering the landscape between two sunrises - I don't think that even WWI saw this amount of carnage in a similar timeframe.

It did, at the Somme amongst other battles, but it certainly hasn't been seen since WWII. The Allies probably lost that much (around the world) on a few days in 1944, the Axis as well.
Passchendaele and Verdun probably as well, from WWI.
