  • "This could've been settled very easily, just a half-baked negotiator could have settled this years ago without the loss of much land, very little land, without the loss of any lives, without the loss of cities"; or
  • That Moscow was "willing to begin to engage in a serious process to determine how quickly, and through what mechanism, can an end be brought to this war".
Seem to forget who invaded whom and that if Russia truly wanted and end to the killing and destruction, they always had the power to do so…by pulling out and stopping the attacks. Simple really. Even a half baked dimwit can see that.

I am unable to comment without breaking the forum rules. Its painfully obvious whats going on here.

I'm extremely nervous about the recent turn of events. On the one hand, the US is telling Europe to take over more responsibility for its own defence. On the other hand, the US is excluding European partners from negotiations about the war in Ukraine.

What happens if the US and Russia come up with a deal that neither Kyiv nor European nations can stomach? I can see the US pulling out of NATO if Europe doesn't simply agree to everything that's decided by the US and Russia...and yet we can be pretty certain that Moscow's next step will be retaliation against Europe for "attacking" Russia.

I may just stop paying attention to the news because every time I think I've seen the worst and we've finally hit rock-bottom, the very next headline plummets to an even deeper level in the abyss.

It seems clear to me that Putin is successfully driving a wedge into the Western Alliance, and separating America from it.

Because America wants to be separated from it...the US has "a big, beautiful ocean as a separation" with a push that Europe should deal with Russia on its own. This, of course, ignores the fact that ICBMs can cross that ocean in a few minutes. It also ignores the fact that excluding Europe from any peace negotiations effectively prevents Europe from doing anything to curtail Russia.

We're back to the late-1930s again where expansionist regimes just want to keep expanding until someone stops them. Unfortunately, old alliances are being cast aside on a whim and so there's less opportunity to stop the expansionism.

It'll be interesting to see whether countries like the UK will want to support US aspirations in the Pacific given Washington's recent volte face on its historically strong ties with Europe.

I need to shut up now, otherwise I'll say something that gets the thread shut down.

I can only second that.
I will not come to this thread anymore. I will only say that the events of the last few weeks and the actions of a certain supposed "ally" of ours makes me sick. I will not elaborate on that, having broken our own forum rules already.
