Volodymyr Zelenskyy says a security guarantee between Ukraine and the US as part of a peace deal is "100 per cent agreed", while Donald Trump says there are still one or two "thorny issues" to finalise in the deal.

I still think that China is going to make a move to finance Ukraine's rebuilding as part of their BRI. This is especially true if Trump (or post Nov 2026 Congress) and the EU fail to step up postwar.

If the US and EU do not provide the necessary reconstruction support and financing, Ukraine will work with whoever will, including China. The Nov 2026 Congressional election may impact what Trump wants for Ukraine. Under the Constitution, Congress rather than the president must authorize binding security guarantees and loans to Ukraine because only Congress can approve spending, ratify treaties, and establish long term military commitments. Meanwhile consensus and solid commitment in the EU is tenuous.
All good points. But the only way to exclude China is for the US, NATO and EU to ensure there is no opportunity or need for China. If the West stumbles, China will make its move. For example, Macron's recent visit to China to seek their involvement gives Beijing a pathway to interference.

i wonder how receptive Ukrainians will be to Chinese funding after the Chinese have done so much to prop up the destruction of their country.
The Ukraine will need all the help they can get. I doubt they can get picky.

Good question. Were the German people resentful or grateful for US support in rebuilding Germany after America's involvement in that very destruction? I expect we'll see many apparent contradictions in Ukraine postwar.

I think id depends on if Russia is considered the winner or loser at the end of the conflict. At the end of WWII Germany was considered Defeated, and I suspect most Germans were happy to receive any assistance they received to survive and rebuild after it ended.
In this case I am not so sure how the US, Russian, or Chinese assistance will be viewed by the Ukrainian Survivors?

It all depends on the dimensions of the reactors. If they are to large to fit thru tunnels, or 2 heavy for bridges.
