Its been 40 years since this historic Apollo mission. I think this mission has to rank alongside that of the voyage of Magellan for its magnificent venture into the unknown. Although I am far from religious, I feel the reading of the book of Genesis on Christmas Eve, while the astronauts were watching the first ever earthrise, is among the greatest events in the history of our world.
How many people here are old enough to remember seeing that first photograph of our planet Earth sitting in the dark void of space? I remember my elementary school teacher getting a picture of it and hanging it with pride in our classroom.
So from Syscom3, may all my fellow forum members have a Merry Christmas!
