Arc Light One

While it seems unrelated, this is a documentary on General LeMay

It seemed that this might have affected Johnson's distrust of the JCS: I think he thought LeMay would use any excuse he could to "get WWIII started". While I don't know about what Generals replaced him, I'm curious if Johnson thought they or the JCS might have the same mindset.

I'm curious if General Ryan (who assumed command of SAC after Power) was as extreme as LeMay or Power?

I honestly don't know. The Wiki on him describes someone who we airmen would think of as "ate up", but how he compared to his predecessors, beats me.

Okay, so a guy who ate others to get to the top?

I don't know the background behind the phrase. I always assumed it was along the lines of "eaten up with enthusiasm".

From what it appears at least some data seems to indicate General Ryan was known to be considerably more balanced than LeMay or Power (not that this is a major achievement) and seemed to have allegedly formed a bridge between guys like LeMay and Power and SAC of the late Cold War.
