As its coming up to Armistice Day or Remembrance day, I thought it would make sense to look at another often overlooked event - instead of WW2 - that also took place on 11th November. Churchill saw Battle of Taranto as a turning point in the balance of power in the med. There's an article by Imperial War Museum's Nick Hewitt in December's issue of Military Times. can also view a preview online copy of the mag at www.military-times.co.uk/preview the site features lots more on aircraft of WW2 and lots on Battle of Britain.
Well,
it's called the "Battle of Taranto" but there wasn't a real battle because, for several reasons, the Italian defence was taken almost unprepared.
The description given by Wikipedia Battle of Taranto - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia seems to me to be quite correct, at least for what I remember I read on other books.
Cheers
