NOTE !
The official Air Ministry directive was that squadron code letters would be presented forward of the National Markings (roundel) on both sides of the fuselage, the size and stroke of these to be in line with the directives relevant to each aircraft type.
HOWEVER! There were many and varied exceptions, both in location, and size and stroke of the letters, and most Hurricane squadrons during the BoB, including 32 Squadron, displayed the two-letter squadron code forward of the roundel on the port side, and aft of the roundel on the starboard side.

So the illustration in post #7 is correct in orientation, but not letter shape then?
