French troops marching to Verdun bleated like sheep, but they still went. Sometimes people can realise that they have a poor chance.
I agree about 'Luftwaffe Over Germany-Defence of The Reich' and 'Day Fighters in Defence of The Reich-A War Diary 1942-1945' as well as just about anything else from the same author, his JG 26 stuff for example.
