Build around the year 1000, one of the older examples of a castle in The Netherlands, the "Burcht van Leiden" in the middle of the old town of Leiden. It's what we call a 'mottecastle". Still my own photos.

Two important castles connected to WWI. The first one is Castle "Amerongen', which housed Der Kaiser Wilhelm II for a year or so after he fled Germany in 1918. The second one is 'Huize Doorn', the castle that he bought and where he spend the rest of his live and where he died in 1941.
