Well, If it helps to preserve those things, It's OK!
I think I said before, my uncle was a castle custodian. In English we would call Shush castle a "folly". It doesnt preserve anything but destroys actual historic remains. Wiki says "The Castle is similar to medieval monuments in France. " But this is only partly true, it is similar to castles in France built after the Crusaders returned and uses the style and structures learned on those crusades.

Well, I'm not specialist in these parts. But what I know, unlike other nations, never "History" was important to rulers and they never tried to save it for future generations!!! Too many historical buildings and monuments were destroyed by Anti-Iranian Pan-Islamist regime, They even planed to destroyed the "Persepolis"!!!

several years ago, they destroyed An old Church in Khuzestan and built a mosque instead of that!

Tourism for them is only "providing virgins for their arab masters" and History is only "history of shia islam" , Everything else is "Haraam" and forbidden.

They really don't care about history! as well as they don't care to anything else, only thing which is important, is their "empire of terrorism", So if this reusing materials could save them, It's ok! at least, it's way better than being destroyed by BAR {brainwashed armed rebels].

Takeda Castle aka 'Castle in the Sky', Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. The hill fortress of the Daimyo Takeda Shingen.

The last is an artist's rendering of what it would have looked like in the mid-1500s. Unfortunately, only the foundations remain.

Castle Haar, Netherlands....
Source: Interweb
It's actually Kasteel Haarzuilens, not kasteel Haar which is a different castle. Unfortunately Haarzuilens is a fake castle, build in the 1890'ies. But it looks the part, I must admit.

I have to correct myself. The castle is called "Kasteel de Haar" but it's located in the village called "Haarzuilens". I always assumed it had the same name as the village. My bad...

Is it real that some of these old castles / fortresses are for sale in Europe???
All countries are different. In UK most are the property of the state, but some are in private hands because they always have been or were bought in the past. Bamburgh castle near(ish) to me has always been privately owned and was bought in 1894 by the Armstrong family who still live in part of it.
