Can anyone help me in finding photos of seven crewmembers of a Halifax III (LW192) wich crashed on June 17th 1944 in Buren (NL)?
I'm also looking for more information on theGerman Nightflyer Adolf Breves, who was reponsible for this crash. Does anyine have a photo of him too?

It would be a great help for me in my investigation.

Thansk,

Richard van de Velde (NL)

Interesting. Breves has three claims for that night, none of which is for LW192.

At 01:46 a claim for a Halifax at 4,200 m Culemborg-Hilversum. Probably 434 Sqn Halifax LK792

At 01:50 a claim for a Lancaster at 4,000 m S. Rhenen. That was 550 Sqn Lancaster LM134

At 01:59 a claim for a Halifax at 3,600 m Steenderen, 9 km S. Zutphen. That was 102 Sqn Halifax MZ643.

Looks like the culprit for the demise of LW192 was possibly Fw Hugo Futscher, 2./L.Beo.St.(NJG3) a 9 kill ace who claimed a 4-mot over Rotterdam at 4,000 m at around 02:01 that morning.

Even more interestingly Tony Wood's Luftwaffe Claims list for the night 16-17th June 1944 does not include a claim made by a Fw. Futscher. There is however a claim by a:

17.06.44 Fw. Teschner 2./L.Beo.St. 4-mot. Flzg. Rotterdam: 4.000 m. 02.01 Film C. 2027/II Anerk: Nr.2

I think these two might be one of the same with an error made in copying the name from the microfilm.

Hi,

I realise that this post may be a little late, but I hope that this helps.

Braddock Eric

I worked in The Netherlands for many years and have visited the crew's graves in Buren on several occasions, still having friends who live there.

Kind regards

Peter
