Building a Doolittle raider B-25. older kit from ebay. had a lot of difficulty with first decal. started with tail numbers. first one just came apart when sliding off the backing. finally got one side done after a lot of frustration. decals kept disintegrating, but managed to get it done by cutting numbers apart from other tail numbers. need help as I am afraid to do the wings. can't locate any aftermarket decals of the Doolittle Raiders.
thanks

Spray the rest of the decal sheet with an acrylic clear coat, let it dry, then try again. As for the decal that is destroyed, post a description of it and some members here may be able to replace it for you.

I have the 1/48 Accurate Miniatures Doolittle Raiders kit and may be able to part with one of the decals.

That is the one I am doing. Finally got the tail numbers 02261 done on one side. had to scavenge other tail numbers one at a time. I have two sets of decals. Bought the kit off ebay. first one arrived i/4 put together. seller sent me another kit. just worried about the U S Army large wing decals holding together. If I spray with clear, do I just cut them out along the original film line ans apply as normal?

If you have the original box of the "Acurate" brand maybe You can use one of the others planes serial Numbers to complete yours?!

I have the original and have the serial numbers of nearly all the raid planes.

I managed to use single numbers from other Raiders. Was able to get the tail numbers. So many disintegrated, I am just worried about the wing decals. Think I will try the Micro Scale Liquid Decal Film.with a decal that I will not be using on scrap plastic and see if that works. Anyone use it?

It's nothing more but a thin clear lacquer. It works better with old decals but with the newer as well. However a such protected decal can work worse with the Sol and Set liquids. Because it is a very thick varnish you may have at trouble with applying with an airbrush. It nees to be thinned For brushing it is OK although may give a quite thick layer
