Thanks Bret. I decided I didn't like the asymmetrical look of the single exhaust so kept the kit's twin pipes.The Bristol Mercury is a 9-cylinder engine with 18 forward-facing exhaust outlets. The Bristol Perseus is exactly the same in this respect. The Mercury has an updraft carburetor, with a lower air intake. The Perseus is identical in this regard as well. It's possible that the two low exhaust stubs flanking the carburetor inlet allowed for a simple and symmetrical installation for the hot air intake. So, I don't see any particular reason for there to be one or two exhaust outlets
