Lippisch was a brilliant designer. This was far ahead of it's time.

and he was around well into the 60s when he was building (and displaying at the EAA fly-in at Rockford Il) a reverse delta light aircraft with down turned wing tips which had remarkable STOL characteristics.
He discussed that aircraft with anyone who would listen and was a captivating speaker.
