Lower wings sprayed with Tamiya XF-16 Flat Aluminum. Ignore the patchy centre section, it will be painted fuselage NMF. Some kinda Vallejo methinks. Might get it done tonight but in 20 minutes we are heading out to shovel more snow

Sprayed the panels around the radiator and now that the masking is off, I don't like the colour of the moving surfaces...too dark methinks. Looks like a do over

I would be careful Geo. I would say that's the light & shadow trick because of the matt tone of the wing tops and the shiny aileron/flap skin.. Here a better view.

As is my photography. I can get dark, light or both....

In the end I resprayed with Vallejo White Aluminum to get a bit of variation.

In all pictures of the P-51 on assembling lines it can be noticed that the flaps and ailerons are of the shiny metal skin and were left unpainted. Contrary to that the rest of the wing is either of the aluminium matt paint or a kind of the grey that is also matt and then painted with the silver. So the unpainted parts of the NMF should look slightly like a mirror. I mean a little bit shiny and cristal silver. In time these were getting more of the mattish/grey tone due to the oxidation.
