I've not been weened from the bottle.

Now I chose this kit for the markings but with all the fuss I looked at the Eduard kit! Oh my I must try it. It's actually designed to do it with or without the engine, like crazy man RIGHT?

Because of how it fits together, it's designed to be left open. This happened to me with the MC205 1/48 from Tauro Models, which is designed to leave the engine completely visible since none of the pieces fit together.

The fill (strip plastic and will be sanded down, Better than filler 'er up). also a gap on the starboard lower gun panel (cowl).

Me thinks it is sticking out a bit too much....

See if the glue will hold????

Actually the additional strip you glued to the fuselage top behind the MG bulges is not needed. There was a slot for cooling and removing of the propellant gases from the MG compartment. So you should have made the front part of the engine cowling thinner at the top rear edge only. It looks like the kit manufacturer has done it correct. Just a matter of the thickness of the part wall. The fitting of the front cowling panels of the Bf 109E wasn't that tight as it is believed.

Humm .. why did you attach the strip there ? Needlessly IMHO.

I had the similar problem while assembling the Airfix 1/24 Bf 109E. Just protected the surfaces that were going to be left as were and sanded down the fusealge side a little bit to nivelate the "step" there . Then I re-engraved the lost panels and rivets there at the correct locations. The chink there was sealed with some of the Superglue in order to make it shallow.

I added the plastic strip due to a rather deep lip due to poor fit. It should sand down to proper alignment. The step is on the fuselage ( cockpit side and not the engine side). I like what you've done and great advice but I think (I've been wrong before) is right for this issue.

OK. Looking forward to the final effect. The Airfix cowling of the MG compartment required making the part wall thinned of the 2/3 to get it sat correctly. It became so thin I had to strengthen a weld of the two halves at the top with a layer of the Superglue.

Wing N' Things.....

Gotta a gap but I think its doable. Cleaned up the engine cowls/fuselage mate area for the most par and attached the wings. quite a bit of dry fitting and fugging but here we are.
