**** DONE: GB-71 1/72 Spitfire - Recon/Transport/Training in WWII

Squadron 682 Italy 1944. Big thanks to A4K A4K and Crimea_River Crimea_River for the assistance on the markings. This is the first time I was able to recreate markings out of leftovers. The serial is off and I was misled by the profile image vs the photo. Don't know why I never noticed that they were different. Oh well, the wife will never notice the error.

Am I second guessing myself at this point or is the rudder on F pointed like E? I even have a XI kit with the pointed version.

Early on I molded the tarps over the plane with plastic wrap to separate it. I only had "fancy" paper towels, so the waffle weave is a little heavy for scale. The Airfix kit is a little light on part count and detail in obscure areas like the wheel wells; but the price is right and looks good. This is also the first time I got a completion before the next GB even opened. I'll do the detail pix tomorrow but for now I'm having a cider and whiskey. Cheers!

As Andy mentioned I may add my two cents ... the rudder of the "F" isn't that pointy like of the "E". In the full pic showing both kites it can be noticed that the "E" was the Merlin powered PR Mk.XI Spit while the "F" was the kite with the Griffon engine what indicates the PR Mk.XIX. The enlarged shot of the tail of the 'F" reveals that the rudder wasn't the pointy one. Just it is a coincidence. The rudder tip is just under the gap in the dark line of the trees/bushes at the horizont like the similar gap on left of the rudder tip. The colour of the fields seen through the gap is similar in the tone to the PR Blue in the image. So the lighter rudder tip at the sunlight and the slightly bluish tone of the gap made the impression of the pionted top of the rudder. So the one used for the modell is correct one.
