Eagles Nest burning. Suspected arson. (4 Viewers)

Damn. The Eagles Nest is burning down. Police suspect arson. Such a shame this historical place is destroyed. I'm so glad I have had the opportunity to visit it on many occasions.

I didn't think anything was left after WW2?

There is a lot left in Germany from then.

The Eagles Nest has been open for tourism since the 1950s. I've been several times since the 1980. Just took my kids there last year.

And a suspect has been arrested.

So parts were moved elsewhere? I seemed to recall that the main building had been demolished close to VE Day and that only a lesser building stood by the end of WW2. If parts had moved elsewhere then I guess it was rebuilt?

Wiki: The Berghof was damaged by a British air raid shortly before the end of the war and subsequently set on fire by the remaining members of the local SS. In 1952, the Free State of Bavaria had the ruins demolished.

Another blow against fascism!
Easy to fight an enemy that's already defeated.

No, the Eagles Nest was not demolished. It remained until yesterday.

You are speaking of the Berghof. His actual residence. They are two different places. The Berghof was blown up in 1952. All that remains of it are the foundation.

The police have released photos of it this morning.
