The top two photos on the left hand page in the final page posted are interesting in what they show, that the captions don't capture.

Top left photo is an oblique installation in a RAF Mustang II fitted with a Malcolm Hood, as evidenced by the track that the hood travels on seen running below the rear quarter window, and the Malcolm Hood is fully forward enclosing the cockpit. The camera is also a Kodak US manufactured K.24 not a Williamson UK manufactured F.24. In the original of the photo, the darker, 'crinkle' paint finish that was applied to the US K.24s is more evident, rather than the lighter and 'smooth' paint finish applied to Williamson F.24s. Fun fact, for the Mustang II fitted with the Malcolm Hood, unless the oblique camera(s) were fitted with the shortest of the focal length lenses, the Hood would not clear the camera lens projecting out through the cutout in the rear quarter window(s). So the pilot would have to get into the cockpit, all strapped in and ready to go, then the oblique cameras were installed, the quarter windows were installed and then he was good to go. ON return after the sortie, the reverse applied and the pilot could not open the hood and exit the aircraft until the oblique camera were removed. Not much fun under the Malcolm Hood for a pilot in full flying kit on a sunny day, or if he had that extra mug of tea before he took off.

Top right photo of the underwing camera installation on a Hawker Typhon FR.1b is not the typical installation but a specialised installation for use of the specialised vertical moving film camera. The normal oblique/vertical installation had slightly 'bulged' camera port surrounds set at different angles depending if they were for the oblique or vertical camera(s).

The edition of Evidence in Camera that these pages come from was very heavily biased towards the operations, aircraft, camera and arrangements for the 'pure' PR aircraft, with minimal coverage given to the work being done by the RAF's Tac/R Squadrons.
