Actually target tug Tempests DID carry the diagonal black bands over yellow underside post war! Some RNZAF Avengers post war too, Daniel!

Yeah, Jan and I talked about having the black and yellow stripes that were later used in the Suez crisis of '57. They were painted just like the 'D-Day' stripes, but with yellow replacing white - would look rather cool on some birds. Of course, if this fictitious scenario was extended and elaborated upon , then some aircraft types that didn't quite make WW2 could be incorporated couldn't they? The brain cogs are creaking into motion here......

 I wonder what an RNZAF Corsair would look like with D-Day stripes ......*intends to find out with Corsair build*

You know, I'd thought of a Corsair 'what if?' There was a post in another section about what if the Corsair had been with the 8th USAAF, and what it would look like in, say, 56th FG colours, which got me thinking. I was going to do a profile of the scheme, but I still haven't sorted the problem with the software control - need a graphics tablet! So, I thought of building a couple of Corsairs, one 8th USAAF and one RAF, the latter with 'D-Day' stripes. Might get around to it some day, when all the other projects are done, but by then, I'll probably be too old and knackered!!

A USAAF 8th AF Corsair in D-day stripes! Wow Sounds interesting! ,Actually thinking about doing it leads me to thinking its one for future builds.I certainly think it would look good though!

How about a B-17E/F in Bomber Command camo maybe - a 'what if' 90 Squadron got it right scheme? Or a Fort in black and camo 'night' colours maybe :?:

Still got my wrap-around TSR.2 on the list as well, spotted a set of decals for a 1/48 RAF what-if on t'internet last night (they were Techmod, IIRC) 8)

Doesn't have to be a 'what if?' BT, RAF Coastal Command used both the B17 E,F and G, and 100 Group, Bomber Command, used the B17G, in night-bomber camouflage, on Bomber Support (Mandrel) operations. I've already got one of the latter 'on the stocks', from the old Matchbox 1/72nd kit. Problem is, it's been there for well over ten years!!!

Hi Terry, since you speak about 100th BG, do you know this museum in Czech Republic? Museum of Air battle on 11.9.1944 - Index Page
Far away from me, on the Czech/German boarder. I was there in 2007 with my friend Joe...

Hi Roman, thanks for the very interesting link. However, the 100th I refered to was RAF Bomber Command 100 Group, a specialised unit, equipped with various aircraft, including, B17's, Lancaster, Halifax and Mosquio. Their role was electronic counter measures; basically, jamming or decieving the enemy's night-fighter radar and communications systems, both ground-based and airborne.
