My favorite Korean War fighter is the F-22.

since we don't have a peace treaty ending the war…

You are correct. In the early 70s we made a quick stop in Korea for cargo offload. Because the war was in only a cease fire I was authorized a Korean War Expeditionary force medal.

I think the appropriate name for it is "Sabre Fodder".

La-9. Of course it was technologically inferior in compare to F-86 but you may say exactly the same about any other piston powered fighter of this era in compare to MiG-15, Me-262, Meteor or Vampire. My point was just aesthetic - La-9 was good looking piston engine powered airplane, of course F7F is world champion in this competition and only fighters close to this one are Fury and Hornet- at least in my personal opinion.
