Fiat G-50 tail wheel question

On several sources I have come across, the g-50bis has been described as having a retractable tail wheel. Even a set of factory plans seem to show this as being the case.

However I can not seem to find one photo showing the 50bis as having a retractable tail wheel.

So what is the story? Was it designed with one only to never have it factory installed? Was it late versions only? Something weirder?

Possible, its also possible the surviving photos of the G50bis's were of rebuilt G50's.
