I can't believe that they would charge the USAF museum for that. One of the shuttles belongs in the USAF museum.

Boeing Museum eagerly wants one. But at $130M + upgrades to the museum to properly take care of it, that ain't never happening. I doubt the $130M though.

I agree. With USAF mandates on payload capacity during development, they own the shuttle legacy.

I believe the Smithsonian has a shuttle mockup Enterprise on display that was used as a test bed.

Evergreen Air Museum was talking about acquiring one when I was up there in '07. They were even building a new hangar/wing to house the shuttle.
