With all the hubbub surrounding Robin Williams' sad passing, I thought I'd share this touching story of a FEPOW survivor and his wife who passed away on their 76th wedding anniversary.

There won't be any national outpouring of grief at their deaths. Apart from the Second World War they lived unremarkable lives simply loving each other and raising their family. However, in my book they are both heroes and show a gritty determination and a total dedication to each other that's all too lacking in today's "what's in it for me?" culture.

By the time I finished reading this I had a huge lump in my throat. May they have found true peace and everlasting happiness through the eternities.

A great story and thanks for sharing, buffnut :salute:

I don't think you have to worry about so much, A4K.
Surrendered Japanese soldiers were exactly treated in the same way they did.
Almost 1,500 did not return from there.
