GB 61 - Carrier and Maritime Aircraft - Discussion

It's about a week away so I thought it was time to start talking about.

Here's the two I've pretty much decided on. They've both been near the top of my "to build" list for quite a while, they both fit the group build, and they both have similar paint schemes, and wont it be great to see Corsair painted in something other than blue?

I have an Eduard Wildcat lined up but have not decided on a scheme. Maybe do a dio with a guy on a mobility scooter taking a leak on it.

I have a couple for this one.
This first one is a floater prototype that never went into production because of events in Europe, but ended up being used as a torpedo test bed.

The second started development during WWII and was used by the FAA and a number of other foreign countries, Australia being one of them and it will be the subject of the build, though not the one pictured on the box.

GB 61 - Carrier and Maritime Aircraft - All Eras - Feb 1, 2024 to June 2, 2024
This GB is for aircraft of any era that were based from aircraft carriers or launched from other ships, as well as seaplanes, floatplanes, and land-based aircraft used for maritime patrol, attack, rescue, and reconnaissance activities. Prototype floatplanes and seaplanes are allowed, provided that they were actually built and flown. Multi-role land-based bombers such as the Ju-88 or Liberator can be entered IF the markings carried by the entry represent a specific aircraft that can be proven to have been used in the maritime patrol, attack, rescue, or reconnaissance role.

Well it's Jan 25, six more days to the start of this build. What are you all looking at?

I looking at the Kinetic/Italeri EA-6B in 1/48.

Gotta do the weathering if you want to get better. But I think you are underselling yourself, and remember, it's only plastic....

Gotta do the weathering if you want to get better. But I think you are underselling yourself, and remember, it's only plastic....

Thank you both; but my fear comes from the fact that there are 3 layers to work on the weathering for a Corsair: NMF, YZC and camo. I'm afraid of missing the different "scrapings".
That said, one day I will have to get around to it !!!

I shoulda thought about doing one other than Blue, but!
It IS a Yorktown Corsair! Pretty simple one.
I've got some aftermarket cockpit parts, an engine and printed decals hot to go.
