I spent some time this weekend filling those wing joints with plastic card & CA, and filing & sanding them down. I then wet sanded everything withe 100 grit and began the painting. I will need to repair one of the OD anti-glare because some thinner dropped on it messing it up.

That kit goes for at least $70 + shipping Kevin. I have never come close to spending that much on a kit, and it would seem it also has its issues even at that price, although not nearly as many at this Modelcraft kit which I have had in the stash for 10 years.
It does indeed have some issues but not even close to the ModelCraft. I venture to compare it as a Frog to a Tamiya, well you get the idea as it ain't a Tamiya.

A bit of threadjack.
Reading about your comments on kit manufacturers, I wanted to create a poll on the best/favorite brand. I realized while I could list a number of brands, I might miss a few.
I was surprised to learn here that Airfix and Academy aren't the be all and end all of model making art. As a kid, I thought Airfix, rare and almost unobtainable, was the gold standard. The only Academy model I ever built was my "unicorn" B-17C/D. I thought it was amazing.
I learned from friends that Tamiya was the most (insert superlative here) manufacturer.
I'm curious how our community feels.
