Here in the first two pictures is the right fuselage after 2 1/2 hours of filing, filling with CA, Filing again and sanding, sanding, sanding, and sanding.
quite a lot of filing on the fuselage joint was necessary, and a whole lot on the nose to fuselage joints. all these areas were wet sanded with 400 and 600 grit, then because of a lot of rough texture in a lot of other places I went over the entire thing with 800 and 1000 Grit.

While handling the fuselage while working on it I kept thinking that this thing was huge for a Mustang, so I pulled out a P-51A I had in the stash to compare (third picture) and WOW, Just WOW. :shocked!:

Yeah the twin mustang has very little in common with the mustang. I think I read or heard there are only something like 8 parts in common. NA started with the XP-51F (which morphed into the H) and had to add extension plugs and the wing is bigger (not just in length).

Your sanding and putty work is looking good. If I didn't know any better (and I don't) I'd figure you did body work on those salted out rusted vehicles up there in the northern tundras.
 
Got to agree, it's huge in comparison and like all I thought it was just two fuselages joined in unison. Neat work with the joins Glenn and I usually finish of with a 100 grit or higher. :lol:

Spent a couple of hours filling and filling with CA today on the left fuselage but still need to do all the wet sanding. No pictures because it looks just like the other one. Kinda feels like Groundhog Day.
I foresee a lot of re-scribing panel lines in my future. I foresee a lot of re-scribing panel lines in my future. See, I told you, Groundhog Day. :evil4:
 
Filling, filing and sanding had been finished on the second fuselage as well as the radiator intakes on the center wing section. All the lost panel lines have been re-scribed as well as going over the rest of the panel lines with my scriber as they were somewhat shallow and soft-edged
I have to decide if I want to go with the vac canopy set I have on hand or use the kit canopies. once I get those on, I'll be ready to start putting the wings on.
