This will be my memory of the greatest Polish aviation ace with his 22 1/2 kills, he fought from the beginning of the war until his last day, with 9 decorations between Poland and Great Britain. CDr. Stanislaw Skalski
On September 16th he was named Allied aviation ace after achieving his 6th kill, becoming the first Allied ace, during the Battle of Britain he fought and was shot down and wounded with the 501st Squadron. in 41 he transferred to command the 306th polish squadron at "Torun", in 42 he flew in the 312th and 317th squadrons, and went on to instruct in the 58th unit, in 43 he formed the "Skalski circus" participating in operation husky, at the end of 43 and 44 he returned to northern Europe fighting in the 131st and 133rd polish wings, intervening in d-day, after this he went to the EEUU to study command personnel, giving lectures on flight tactics and air combat to replacement pilots until march 45 when he returned to command of the 133rd wing... His war record was 321 combat sorties, 18 confirmed kills 3 shared and 4 probable and 2 possible. After the war he refused to continue as a pilot for the RAF and returned to Poland in 1947, where he was an inspector of flight technology. In 1948 he was arrested on charges of espionage and was not released until 1950 (Stalin's madness reappears). Sentenced to death in 1950 he was in prison until 1956, when he was exonerated of the charges and released. (I don't want to get into politics in this forum, but these years of Soviet repression only fit in the mind of an anti-socialist dictator like Stalin, who never wanted to understand and enforce Lenin's ideology.)
In 1957, already as a lieutenant colonel, he served with jets, but more on the ground than in the air. In 1968 he was named general secretary of the Polish Aeroclub, already as a colonel.
In 1972, with the rank of general, he was enrolled in the reserve. In 1957, he published a book of memoirs entitled Black Crosses over Poland (Polish: Czarne krzyże nad Polską). He was a member of the Society of Fighters for Freedom and Democracy - the official organization of veterans of the Polish People's Republic.
In 1980, he took part in the activities of the nationalist and communist Patriotic Alliance Grunwald. In 1988, he was promoted to major general.
In the 1990s, he became active in politics. In 1991, he unsuccessfully ran for the Senate with the support of the Christian Democratic
Labour Party. He supported the protests of the Agricultural Trade Union Self-Defense (Związek Zawodowy Rolnictwa "Samoobrona"), and in 1992 he was one of the founders of the populist political movement Self-Defense, led by Andrzej Lepper. In 1993 he ran unsuccessfully for the Sejm. The data on Skalski's last years are contradictory.
Skalski flew these aircraft according to records:
Flying PZ" P.11c (No. 8.66, c.66), Hurricane Mk.I (P5194; V6644; V7230, SD-F); Spitfire MK.I.Ib, Spitfire Mk.Vb, Spitfire Mk.V.V. Spitfire Mk.IX (EN475,ZX-1; EN247,ZX-5; EN315,ZX-6), Mustang III (FZ152, SS (Stanislaw skalski????))
It's a pity I can't find out which Spitfires don't have a code so I can put them on the list to be made, as I'm already looking for the ones I have the code for...

I was inspired to look for this aircraft to honour in my display case (like so many others) after reading Jackson, Robert (1979). Fighter! The Story of Air Combat 1936-1945. London: Artur Barker Limited. ISBN 0-213-16717-4. A book that I really liked for its human side.
the blisters of the model are that simple...

Nice. :thumbright:

A note though ... the wing is not for the P-51B/C ( RAF Mustang III ) variant. It is for the D one. The leading edge at the wing root should have a different angle. Secondly the rudder should have the smooth surface at least, instead of the recessed lines there. Also please make a focus on the fitting of the wing to the fuselage at the radiator area. The shape of the cut in the bottom part of the wing at its trailing edge, doesn't allow to slide the part into the its slot at the fusealge correctly. The next problem you may find is the front "smile" , I mean the air inlet at the front bottom nose area ... as mamo serves the part is a little bit too small/narrow in relation to the fuselage and the slot for it there. So the rule .. fit three times, glue once .. is the main rule.
And apply a layer of a clear coat at the decal sheet to prevent the decals cracking.

BTW.... IIRC none of Skalski's Spitfires had the "SS" code.

I do like this choice and interesting observations form our friend Wojtek.

I assembled the kit twice in the past. And it is still on my "to do" list. Now the kit is reboxed by the Mistercraft and offered as a couple of kits differing decal markings only. The genuine Intech kit is also still in my stash ...

Here a couple of pics of Skalski's Mustang III FZ152 ... more you may find out with the links below ...

Your comment is very very detailed my friend, indeed all the faults you indicate exist, with the decals I already used Vallejo decal repair, it is similar to the decals films from microscale... thk, many thanks my friend.

Nice one Sergio. Those decals do look like they might be crispy so Wojtek's advice might be good to follow.
Of course, we always listen and evaluate the possibility of doing what is being discussed to help... you can only learn with your own knowledge, and even more so if it is given in such detail and specificity...

thanks to all, fellas.

After evaluating and reviewing all the information that Wojtek so generously provided me (provided to all of us), I found on the Internet and in the link that he left us a profile where you can see it great, after passing it through Gimp to be able to give it a larger size to better see the provisions and modifications that must be made...

Starting with the tail... I have marked the area that I will cover with the paneling and the lines that it should have, on both sides.

IMG_7251.JPG

Then I marked the edges of the wings, which besides being extremely thick do not have the profile that corresponds,

After working on the wings, the result is still to be polished. As I cannot sand by hand, my wife gave me an automatic sander that has run out of batteries and I have to recharge it to continue...

IMG_7256.JPG

The first of these photos shows one side already retouched and the other not, while the second is how they are now, pending fine-tuning of the wing edges and re-paneling...

and the dry fitting test of the wings to see the "empenaje" (in Spain the union of the wings to the fuselage is called empennage)

A good job lies ahead for me...

You have got yourself well prepared and a lot of work ahead Sergio. I also have one of these pencil sanders, they are a great asset for modelers.:lol:

While I am recovering the colors, after so much time closed all the pigment has settled below and separately I have to shake the paint a few hours before being able to use them, I have decided while the magnetic stirrer does its job to clean all the pieces and leave them as best as possible,

BTW .. as memo serves the part is the DF loop antenna. Skalski's kite didn't have it installed. So it is not needed. However please check on that.

Thanks mate.
Well, checking what you mentioned, in no photo of Skalski's plane can you see that he has it, what's more, you can't see the support for said antenna either.

While I evaluate the options of how to properly remove the leaks, I continue with the assembly.

I close the fuselage and put the wings in place to continue with the "mouths" of the radiators, getting ever closer to the phase of kilos and kilos of putty and hours of sanding.

IMG_7263.JPG IMG_7273.JPG IMG_7274.JPG

Another obstacle, the transparent one, I don't know how they intend to fit the transparent one in the hole they have left for it since it is much bigger than the hole, but well it is touched up here and there, it is cut out and the pilot's seat is modelled so that everything fits, according to dimensions it is 3mm higher than normal, luckily it can be touched up from the anchorage and so the seat is not touched. The rear part is cut out, which is also bigger than it should be (according to measurements after checking the plan I have of the p51 mkIII, which appears in one of the books I have about the plane), so I touch up everything, after this the placement in front is also not correct so the seat is touched up and so it remains as it should.

Today I will start adjusting the ailerons and putting in putty to see if this week I can have it ready to start painting it.
