Hmm no expert but i think it might have to do with pressurised brakes. Like in trucks tanks perhaps. That would explain absense of the blue paint because that was inhaled by people.

Yes there are markings but extremely hard to see. Because of rust and 80 years in ocean.
I havent started the treatment for rust on this one yet.
