I agree that Kodak lost their way and they had a chance to retake the market with the DC3200, it was the digital equivalent of the Baby Brownie.

There were other digitals on the market at the time (1999), but the DC3200 cost only $99 and offered excellent results and simplicity for your money.

It almost seems that U.S. manufacturers reach a pinnacle in innovation and technology and then freeze in place while the rest of the world passes them by. A classic example would be the U.S. automakers of the mid-70's. It wasn't until the late 80's that they had a renaissance and moved forward again.
