Hi Guys, here in NZ we are about to end four weeks of compulsory lockdown, and my girlfriend and I took a stroll yesterday on what was ANZAC Day here and in Australia. We walked up the side of a hill to some water tanks and let the dog off for some fun with a rugby ball, then we went to the local cemetery to pay our respects since there was no ANZAC Day dawn parade this year, before a spot of water play for the dog. Enjoy.

This is the first time I had brought my camera out and wanted to play around with lighting and filters and I thought the water tanks would make an interesting subject.

The high voltage power lines also were worth photographing, as well as the sub-station.

The dog enjoyed the walk, too, with her favourite toy.

The lovely Marsden cemetery is set on the side of a hill and is largely reserved for cremations. there is a war grave section as well, where people had laid tributes for ANZAC Day.

This is a plaque with information on a local lad, Cyprian Brereton of Ngatimoti. For four years I lived on his family land in the Motueka Valley and we leased his ancestral house out as an Air BnB before Air BnB became a thing.

People had left their own tributes before us.

A beautiful autumnal burst of colour in the gardens.

Finally, we took the dog to a local pond to play.

In case you're wondering, she's an American red nose pitbull.

Life During Lockdown Part One

Thanks for looking.

Very nice shots Grant. Walks were never banned here in my neck of the woods, as long as everyone kept their minimum 2m spacing. Our city actually closed down two lanes of vehicle traffic on a riverside roadway to make more room for pedestrians along this popular route.

Walks were never banned here in my neck of the woods,

Hi Andy, despite what has been portrayed in the international papers, walks were never banned here either, nor was essential travel by car and it still surprises me just how many people are out at any given time of the day. Still nowhere near as many as before lockdown, but still a lot. It does make getting to and from work a lot quicker! You can still drive to supermarkets, service stations for fuel and workplaces if you are an essential worker and some shops are still open, like corner convenience stores, but nothing else. I had to do an oil change on my car and could order the filter and oil online and have it delivered, so essential services operate with delivery services. You can get groceries delivered, but the wait is up to seven days locally, so its easier to go to the supermarket.

Joe, that is amazingly like the countryside around my area - at first I thought it was the Peak District, the National Park area who's edge is just a couple of miles or so from where I live - example below, looking towards the Cat and Fiddle.
And Mike, that lake could be near me too - see pic below.

Right now we're pretty green because of recent rain and spring snow. The local temperatures are rising and in a couple of weeks this green countryside will turn brown
