Hi all, my Mum recently passed away and I found some bits and peices originally belonging to my Grandfather who served ad an upper deck gunner on British destroyers throughout WWII including extensively on Ryssian convoys and in the Pacific theatre following vi tory in Europe.
Amongst these items I found a small note book with several pages listing various fighter and bomber planes under the title 'Aircraft Rec'. These seem to be acco.panied by airspeeds? As well as some basic sketches/silhouettes. I'd be interested to know if this was a record of the aircraft my Grandfather encountered while on duty or if it was perhaps a hand written reference for him.
I'd be happy to share these pages with anyone interested, and perhaps get some more informed opinions on what this brief list actually was?
Thanks,
Scott
Seems like some notes he may have taken during an aircraft recognition course. The comment about the Hurricane being Battle of Britain but still in use in the Far East is my logic for this interpretation.
