The Hawker Hunter entered service in 1954 and soon became the RAF's front-line fighter aircraft.

The F1 was modified quite early on, and later versions were improved and adapted for the ground attack role. The Hunter saw service with 20 countries world-wide.

The early Hunters were armed with 4 x 30mm cannon at first, then rockets, bombs, or missiles bcame available when extra hard-points were added to the wings.

Great stuff, one of my favourite aircraft. As a kid, I used to watch the 66 Sqn Hunters taking off from Acklington, and doing live firing, just off the beach, at a drogue towed by a Meteor.
