I'm an amateur historian with a deep passion for the Second World War. In April 2022, I suffered a brain haemorrhage. Encouraged by my doctors to stay mentally active during recovery, he turned his focus to a subject that had long fascinated him — the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo of 18 April 1942.
What began as a path to rehabilitation grew into serious historical research. I'm the author of The Doolittle Raiders: Battle of Survival in China and Tokyo Sixteen: The Heroes of Doolittle's Raid on Japan. My work brings to life the stories of the men behind one of the most daring missions of the war.
I'm currently working on two new books as part of an ongoing research project. 1 - Doolittle Raid Pilot Donald G. Smith and 2 - From Tokyo to Torch, the Five Doolittle Raiders in the 319th Bombardment Group. My publisher in the USA is Casemate Publishers and in the UK, Pen and Sword Books.
