Hello everyone,
My name is Aaron, I am a 25 year old Living Historian/Re-enactor specialising in WWII British and American.
I recently visited my local museum in Gloucester dedicated to local aircraft, the museum is called Jet Age and is home to the Gloster Aircraft Company Collection as well as the creator of the Jet engine.
I am normally interested in Railways but recently my interests has grown beyond this, I have always been interested in WWII and recently I have been delving into Gloucestershire's Wartime past which is very interesting.
I also have a question which has been in my mind for a few days now, I am interested in one of the aircraft which is at the Jet Age Museum and this aircraft is the Hawker Hurricane, just over 2,000 were built in Gloucester and I have been told by 2 people that the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company, a local Gloucester company that built railway wagons and carriages as well as Churchill Tanks and many other interesting and wonderful items also built parts and/or components for the Hawker Hurricane, is anyone able to answer or help me with my question which is can anyone confirm or identify if Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company did build parts/components for the Hawker Hurricane? If so, could anyone let me know what parts/components were built by the said company?
