Hello everybody, just wanted to introduce myself. I am currently building what will be the worlds only flying Hawker Tempest MK 2. There is a facebook page if anybody is interested. Hawker Tempest II - MW376 Restoration . I was hoping that there are still people around that had some first hand experience, or stories with these aircraft. Since the aircraft was only put into service at the end of the war, there seems to be very little information out there. Thanks.

Thank you very much for the info. We have used the RAF museum in the past for information. I will contact the Brooklands Museum. And good eye on the Pratt. We are using the R2800 for the build as we plan to do a lot of flying and need the reliability. We are planning on assembling a Centaurus for the project once we are off the ground.

Very good, much respect due for attempting to use the proper engine in the final incarnation despite the difficulties. If you need any in depth engine technical assistance with respect to the centuarus do let me know, companies all over the world invite me to talk to their engineers about warbird engines on a regular basis.

Some data on historical developments is also available at the National Archives at Kew. Just type "Centaurus" into the search box. If you cannot visit yourself
I know people to take photos for you which will be cheaper than using the copy services.

All the best !
