Hoodoo Gurus - "Tojo never made it to Darwin". This was released in 1983 by Australian "Surf Rock" band, at the time i was in early high school and never totally appreciated the underlying themes in the song.
The song was influenced by the charity song "Santa Claus never made to Darwin" after Cyclone Tracey devastated Darwin during Christmas 1975. Hoodoo Gurus changed it to also reference that although Darwin was bombed by Japan during WW2 "Tojo" never made it to Darwin, unlike the cyclone Tracey that did, also the song talks about Tracey as a girl and the cyclone, so it will completely confuse non-Australians as to what its about!
Here in the states, we only knew them for another song off that same album....

They're kinda seen as a one-hit-wonder here, but the more I learn about them, the more of a long and successful carreer they seemed to have had.
Found this one the other day. Never heard it before, but I really like it.
Kinda reminds me a little of a local band I remember from back then called The Young Fresh Fellows.
