Aftershocks still shook the earth when pilot Gato Urrutia crash landed on a makeshift runway February, 1976. After a 7.5 magnitude quake devastated much of the region, many local roads were used as runways to transfer emergency goods and supplies to survivors.
 
"When a car and an airplane are in crossing situation on a collision course, the airplane has to give way to the car to starboard (right). The give way airplane must take early and obvious action to avoid a collision by either stopping or altering course to starboard........"
